Why I'm running to be your Red River Ward Councillor

Since moving to Thunder Bay in 2005, I have seen the great potential of our community. Good, safe neighbourhoods are essential in our City. We need a city councillor willing to go to bat for the neighbourhoods of Red River Ward. I am willing to be that voice.

Our city council needs to be wise with our tax dollars. We need a council who is willing to not build the city outwards when our population is stagnate. Thunder Bay needs to adopt a Strong Towns model.

Community safety is very important to me. That is why I joined Zone Watch. Our city needs to help our police services by creating safety though social services, through community action and activities, and by bring more employment opportunities.

I want to see Thunder Bay grow. To do this we need a City retention plan for our young families and professionals.

As someone who works in the world of food, access to food, especially local foods is important. The City of Thunder Bay needs to be more proactive in supporting local food producers in our city run facilities.

Our city also has an opportunity to address racism in a real way over the next four years. I am committed to building the relationships with the Indigenous community.

With the state of our environment today, our city needs aggressive policies regarding climate change and storm water management. I would also like to see more options for waste diversion in both residential and the corporate side of our city. Thunder Bay also needs strong language to protect our parks and green spaces.

Our city can do better for our seniors. I am committed to pushing for adequate funding for the 55+ Centre.

Red River Ward and Thunder Bay, I am ready. I hope to earn your trust, support and vote.

Thank you,

David George Noonan
